Compensation
- $240/hour – for all hours worked

Position Overview
Northern Navajo Medical Center (NNMC), part of the Navajo Area Indian Health Service, is seeking a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to provide high-quality anesthesia services for surgical and emergency cases. This is a contract/locum role with opportunities for both short and long-term coverage. The CRNA will work within a collaborative surgical team and provide culturally sensitive care to the Navajo Nation and surrounding communities.
Responsibilities
- Provide anesthetic care for operating room surgical cases and other procedures as needed.
- Manage patient care before, during, and after anesthesia in accordance with NNMC Medical Staff Bylaws and IHS standards.
- Consult with surgical and anesthesia staff on patient care plans.
- Monitor patients to ensure safe and proper anesthetic care.
- Complete all clinical documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) prior to end of shift.
- Participate in quality assurance reviews and adhere to Joint Commission, CMS, and IHS policies.
- Maintain professionalism and cultural sensitivity in all patient and staff interactions.
Work Schedule
- Day Shift: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
- On-Call: Evenings, weekends, and holidays on rotation.
- Overtime may be required on an as-needed basis.
- Leave requests must be pre-approved; verifiable emergencies excepted.
Qualifications
- Certification: Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).
- Experience: Minimum 52 weeks of CRNA experience.
- Licensure: Active, unrestricted license in any U.S. state, D.C., Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory.
- Certifications: Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and ATLS required.
- Health Requirements:
- Fitness for duty clearance from a licensed physician.
- Immunity/vaccination records: MMR, Hep B, Varicella, Tdap (within 5 years), annual TB test, influenza, and COVID-19 vaccination.
- Background: Must pass Level I and II federal background checks; no history of license suspension, misconduct, or disqualifying criminal actions.
- Other: Proficiency in EHR systems, English fluency, and respect for Native American cultural practices.
